When I created Marvelous!, I set out to write stories about women who have created the life they want, whose stories inspire others to do the things they’ve always wanted to do and haven’t. I want you to say, “If she can do it, so can I.”

Along the way, people have encouraged me to start writing about men, too. I had the great pleasure of writing about Wayne Kastning in this issue. I had heard that there was a guy from Rush, now a ghost town in the Buffalo National Forest, who had made it big as a fashion designer. Thanks to Cindy Young, I found Wayne in West Hollywood, where he now teaches college, consults, and still designs for a handful of private clients after a fantastic career in the fashion industry. Wayne proves it’s possible to go from rags to riches, quite literally.

Small, private transformations can be just as powerful as dramatic ones like Wayne’s. Our second feature is about three women in Mountain Home who changed the way they see themselves, and feel about themselves, by changing how they show up at work. It isn’t necessarily about the hair and makeup and jewelry. It’s about getting in touch with your inner goddess, whoever she is, and walking through the world in a way that gives you confidence and makes you feel happy.

Marvelous! is going through a similar transformation herself. I am absolutely thrilled to introduce Sarah Knight, former creative director at AY magazine and graphic designer extraordinaire. You’ll notice a new look in our pages, thanks to Sarah, and you may notice the book is a bit thinner. Beauty is best balanced by substance. I am learning not only from Sarah’s artful eye, but her savvy head for business. Welcome, Sarah! M! June/July 2013
