I have always dug my heels into projects and given them my time, energy and commitment. I choose carefully which projects to make a priority. In determining where to invest my time, I go through a quick process asking myself the following questions: Is it mutually beneficial to all those involved? Will I be glad I accomplished the goal or participated in the endeavor in five years? Will it result in professional and personal growth? Can my heart muscle and stomach lining handle the stress? If I can answer “yes” to all the above questions, I move forward. If not, I simply decide that at this particular time this project is not right for me.

I enjoy being selective with where and whom I invest my time. Do you have an endeavor or project that keeps nagging at you to get started or complete? Do you procrastinate? It might be easier to move forward with an idea rather than have it roll around in your mind while you fight the guilt of inaction.

Passion to me is a vital emotion, a restless knowing that percolates deep within. Men and women who live investing time in their passion possess an extra spark. They have the ability to push through their limitations with remarkable optimism even though circumstances produce many challenges. These dedicated individuals don’t allow disappointment to seep in, causing feelings of despair or depression. Yes, they feel pangs of disappointment, but they do not let it debilitate them. Even when they face challenges, they maintain a state of contentment that supersedes when they have discovered their passion.

The journey taken to the place where I am willing to try new interests and take on projects was a long involved process. I gained confidence after small tasks had positive results. As my skills and abilities developed, I moved on to tackling large endeavors. Taking small steps will lead to overcoming adversities, which in turn leads to gained confidence and satisfaction, ultimately to finding your true potential. The way to rise above self-doubt is self-discovery and enjoying little victories.

Becoming acquainted with your strengths and core values allows you to live a richer and more meaningful life.

Once you align yourself with your deep-seated passion, miracles seem to happen on a regular basis. The passion always wins and is stronger than any obstacle. When you are moving forward and taking action, there is a profound feeling that all is right with the world and “God” is on your side. I often think of Mother Teresa, whose eyes held deep joy though her life was surrounded by despair and pain. Her calling or passion dominated her surroundings, and her vision allowed her to see potential beyond what was.

I am an ordinary woman who has gone through the process of self-discovery and I keep forging ahead. I invest time and effort into my dreams and goals. My sincere hope is to make a difference in the sometimes harsh world. Many everyday people have explored deep within to find their passion. Will you? M! December 2013/January 2014
