Today you can learn almost anything on the Internet, and I do, almost every day, but photography software, the kind that allows you to alter images, is still magical to me beyond the most elementary functions. So you can imagine my delight when our Marvelous! Woman in this issue, Mindy Fulcher, offered to take the images from our photo shoot for her story and make magic with them. She teaches photography and graphic design at ASUMH, and she is a wizard indeed.

You’ll see her art on the cover and in her stories, and that’s her in the cute snow globe in the Table of Contents. Thanks for sharing your talent with us, Mindy, and your story as our Marvelous! Woman.

While I’m not usually a big fan of surprises, I do enjoy the unexpected, and that’s what we got from Nicole Vaccarella in our Christmas story this year. The holidays aren’t joyful for everyone, at least not some years. Nicole tells the funny truth about Christmases with Mom Barbie Graham, and yes, we have Barbie’s approval of the story!

Joanne Bratton’s M! Voices essay is also a bit unexpected. She grew up thrifty, which developed her creativity, traits she’s hoping to pass on to her young family.

Winter is one of the best times to curl up with a book. Even better is having a group of girlfriends to discuss that book with when you’re finished. Dawn Reithel tells us about book groups in the Twin Lakes Area and how to join them. Tina Bradley wrote a companion piece for us about how to start your own book club.

So if you’re a book worm like these girls (count me in!) and don’t belong to a book club yet, this is your lucky issue.

Do you have a perpetual New Year’s resolution to exercise more? Who doesn’t? Jessica Brown demonstrates eight no-excuses exercises you can do at home that require no special equipment but a small ball, and you really don’t even need that. You can do these. I promise.

I am so excited to announce the opening of our darling new Marvelous! office at 133 Harding Boulevard in Cotter. Watch for upcoming Marvelous! Minis, fun events for up to 25 people. Come see us at our first two Minis, a Holiday Bazaar with nine fabulous vendors on December 6, and a second group on December 13. If you have moms, sisters, daughters, and girlfriends on your list, this is your place to shop!

Peace and love to you during the holidays and all through the new year. M! December 2014/January 2015
